Learn how to make delicious, homemade sourdough chocolate chip cookies to enjoy. These cookies are perfect for any get together or simple treat you want to enjoy.
Have I told you before that cookies are my weakness?
They really are. I can never turn a cookie down when it comes to anything.
Cookies are so simple to make and easy treat to pick up and eat. We love cookies in our home more than any other dessert (it might just be me).
DO I USE FED SOURDOUGH STARTER?
Yes! I will usually feed my sourdough starter 6-8 hours before I make the cookies.
IS IT HARD TO MAKE COOKIES WITH SOURDOUGH?
Not at all! I actually am using my normal cookie recipe and just adding sourdough starter to it. It is a super simple recipe!
WHY YOU WILL LOVE THESE COOKIES
I may be biased, but I love this recipe. The cookies have a nice, crunchy outer layer that gives it that wonderful bite. Once your teeth touch the top of the cookie you realize they are the softest cookies you’ve ever had.
The cookie then melts in your mouth and all the dough and chocolate goodness brings you so much joy.
These cookies may not be the healthiest, but they do have the added benefits of sourdough.
Sourdough chocolate chip cookies are truly the best sweet treat to enjoy!
DO I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE SOURDOUGH STARTER BEFORE I USE IT IN THIS RECIPE?
Not at all! You could feed your starter and use the discard right away! The extra hours provide more fermentation for the grains.
IS THIS RECIPE SAFE FOR PEOPLE WITH GLUTEN INTOLERANCES?
I am not licensed to say it is or it isn’t, but most people with gluten intolerances do better with long fermented dough rather than not. I would recommend being cautious with this recipe if you suffer from gluten intolerances.
CAN YOU STORE THIS COOKIE DOUGH IN THE FREEZER?
Yes, you can! We never make a full batch unless it is for a party, so we always store it in the freezer.
HOW TO STORE THIS COOKIE DOUGH IN THE FREEZER?
I will scoop the cookie dough onto a sheet of parchment paper and wrap it. Then I will wrap it in plastic wrap with the name on it and place it in a freezer bag. Store it anywhere in the freezer!

HOW TO MAKE SOURDOUGH CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
6-8 Hours Before Making Cookies:
1. Feed sourdough starter and let it sit for 6-8 hours before using. You don’t necessarily have to do this step, but it helps with fermentation!
Making the Cookies:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Combine together sugar, brown sugar, butter, and vanilla. Mix well until all combined.
3. Whisk in eggs to wet ingredients until it is mixed well.
4. Add in sourdough starter and mix all together for 2-3 minutes.
5. While wet ingredients are mixing, in a separate bowl add in flour, baking soda, and salt.
6. Once the wet ingredients are combined well, slowly add in the flour mixture. Use a spoon to slowly scoop it into the Kitchenaide.
7. Scrape the sides to make sure all of the dough is mixed well. Add in the chocolate chips and mix together once again.
8. Spoon out the cookie dough onto the cookie sheet. You can use parchment paper if you prefer, but I am totally fine with the cookie sheet (do not grease!).
9. Place in the over for 10-12 minutes or until the bottom of the cookie is a nice brown color. The edges will show the brown color also, creating a perfect crunch before your eyes.
